Brick Boost

Another brick in The Wall

The Brick Boost boost rack effect module compares to a customized version of the Colorsound  Power Boost that was built into David Gilmour's custom Pete Cornish pedal board used for The Wall tour.  It was also released in pedal form as the Pete Cornish ST-2

Description

David Gilmour has used the Colorsound Power Boost on and off for decades.  For The Wall, he used a customized version of the Power Booster circuit built into his custom pedalboard by Pete Cornish.  The modified circuit featured input buffers and an added output gain stage.  While the basic circuit in between the buffers and new gain stage is a near-duplicate of the Power Boost, it has a few tweaked component values.  The result was called the Pete Cornish ST-2, which compares to our Brick Boost

We also offer our Color Bomb boost, which compares to the original Power Boost circuit, as well as our Color Drive overdrive, which compares to the closely related Colorsound Overdriver.  The Color Bomb and Brick Boost sound very similar, but if you're looking for the specific boost or overdrive tones of The Wall, go with the Brick.  The original Power Boost ran at 18V instead of the 9V of the ST-2 and Brick, so the Brick could break up a little earlier in the Gain setting.  There is still enough headroom that you may not find much difference, though.

The Brick is a flexible boost that can get loud even when the Gain is low.  With low Gain it is pretty clean.  At max Gain it has a gritty, crunchy breakup with lots of harmonic content available and a good feel.  The Bass and Treble controls allow for a wide range of adjustment.  As is usual with the baxandall tone stack, you can dial down both the Bass and Treble for a mids boost, or dial them both up for a mids scoop.

The Brick Boost is a very specific circuit.  It comes in only one configuration.
