More big fuzz tones made popular by Jimi Hendrix

The Starship Fuzz rack effect module compares to the Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz designed for and used by Jimi Hendrix in his Axis and Band of Gypsies recordings. Try it between a Strat and a Marshall, where it naturally belongs.

Description

Roger Mayer worked on a number of fuzz effects for Jimi Hendrix. One of them became the Axis Fuzz and can be heard on several Hendrix recordings. The Axis Fuzz comes in a very large, heavy, spaceship-shaped enclosure. It provides a wide range of nearly clean to heavy fuzz tones, particularly well-suited to a cranked Marshall amp and Strat - go figure!

Configurations

Starship Fuzz - compares to Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz

Options

Tone Control - Add a simple Tone control to roll off some of the highs. The circuit was intended to brighten up Marshall amps and can be bright with brighter setups.
Noise Cut - Some versions of the original pedal included some extra components to cut noise. These seem to have been dropped in later versions. We don't include them by default, but this option adds them back in.
Noise Cut Switch - Same as Noise Cut option, but on a switch
Carbon Comp Resistors - For those that like the carbon comp sound in their fuzzes.
Custom Components - We use metal film resistors and a selection of capacitors that provide good tone and low noise.
