The main part of the strap is covered with reticulated python. It has an uncommon rope-lace which sort of sits on top of the leather. The lace itself is a wider black deerskin lace.
The adjustable tailpiece of the strap matches the main part of the strap but is whip-laced instead of rope-laced.
This is a simple design meant to show off the python skin, although the rope lace pattern is not often seen these days. This is a "belly cut", meaning that the center of the strap went down the back of the python. "Back cuts" are sliced down the center of the back, leaving the belly in the center of the strap. I think Randy Rhoads python strap(s) were usually back cuts, but I prefer the belly cuts. In either case, you have to make sure the snake is the right diameter, or the pattern doesn't work on a relatively narrow strap - too much of it gets cut off. At present it only has holes punched for the maximum length. Any other length requires more holes to be punched.
Everyone needs at least one good python strap! Right there with zebra and cheetah for that '80s rock vibe.
