The main part of the strap is covered with reticulated python. It is whip-laced with a narrow black leather lace.
The adjustable tailpiece of the strap is plain black leather.
This is a simple design meant to show off the python skin. This is a "belly cut", meaning that the center of the strap went down the back of the python. "Back cuts" are sliced down the center of the back, leaving the belly in the center of the strap. I think Randy Rhoads python strap(s) were usually back cuts, but I prefer the belly cuts. In either case, you have to make sure the snake is the right diameter, or the pattern doesn't work on a relatively narrow strap - too much of it gets cut off along the sides. It has holes punched to make it adjustable from about 49" to 53" in 1" increments. Could maybe have holes added for 48". At 48" the back strap lock would be right at the end of the main part of the strap, with almost none of the black tail strap visible.
We're all used to the cream, white, black, and grey colors in tanned python skins. However, pythons don't look like that at all when they are alive. If they did, they would definitely be highly visible in the jungle. Instead, they are shades of green, olive, tan, and black, much darker to blend in with the jungle colors and shadows so they can drop down out of a tree on you unexpectedly. The tanning process removes their beautiful natural colors and leaves us with what we are used to seeing. If one does drop down out of a tree and starts putting the squeeze on you, grab them near the very end of their tail and bend it sharply. That is apparently very painful and will cause them to drop their grip on you, or your grateful companion, allowing you time to grab them by the throat and strangle them before they squeeze you to death. Maybe.
