Hello, Effects Fans!
Today we announce two new configurations of our Pi module, which compares to the plethora of Big Muff Pi pedals and derivatives. Our new JP4 and Nitro configurations compare to different versions of the excellent Skreddy Top Fuel pedal. The Top Fuel seems to have gone through revisions over time. Our JP4 config compares to an early version, while the Nitro config compares to a more current version. Of course, they are both pretty similar to each other. The Nitro seems to be a touch brighter, with a little better articulation and string definition, a nice tweak to a good design. Skreddy fuzzes are among the very best available, so neither version will disappoint. It’s more a matter of preferences, if you happen to have heard multiple Top Fuel pedals and developed a liking for one over the other.
The circuit is definitely in the range of fuzzes found in the Big Muff Pi conglomeration of pedals. The focus is on the mids, with the lows trimmed back a bit to keep the fuzz from getting too fuzzy. MOSFET clipping contributes to giving it a touch more “tube character” than the usual silicon clipping. The result is a high-gain fuzz with better articulation and control over the mids to help you cut through better than the classic mid-scoop found in many of these circuits.
You can see the details about our Pi module and the JP4 and Nitro configurations at: Pi. Or look for it in the Fuzz Modules section under Products -> Modules -> Modules By Type.
